dont want "Date" to be updaed automatically.

A word document is being created using MS Word 2003 and
the date is being inserted using the "auto-text" feature.
Whenever this document is being opened, it shows an
updated date, which is not desired.

This was not happening with Word2002.
Please let me know if there is any resolution to this
problem.

Thanks in advance

Stacey,

I don't follow the "inserted using the auto-text feature," but you issue
results from a { DATE } field in the document. Right click the date and
select "toggle field codes." Change the word Date to CreateDate. Rigth
click again and check "Update Field"

On mine, the date inserted using AutoCorrect (with a tooltip) does not
insert a field or anything that would be updated automatically.

Greg was right, if you have an automatically updating date, it is a Date or
Time field.

Try instead working from a template that already has a createdate field in
it, formatted the way you want.

For more on the different kinds of templates and locations of templates
folders see http://addbalance.com/usersguide/templates.htm. See
http://addbalance.com/word/datefields1.htm for information on the different
kinds of datefields and how to format them.
