Dont want double spaced

K

Kathy

Hello,
I am having a problem with office xp. I am using word and
I do not want to single space in between paragraphs.
However when ever i hit the return key it jumps as if
double spaced. I have tried selecting all then changed
all to single spaced and it did not fix my problem.
Any help at all is welcome and appreciated.
Thanks

Kathy,

Don't press the enter key unless you want to start a new paragraph. Word
will automatically wrap to the next line when the text you are typing
reaches your right margin.

To set the spacing between paragrahps use Format>Paragraph>Indents and
Spacing>Spacing Before or After.

Thanks, I understand that but the problem is that it is a
new paragraph but it enters 2 spaces not one when i hit
enter. I hope i was clearer.
Thanks

Check your settings under Format>Paragraph>Indents and Spacing>Spacing
Before/After.

If you don't want spacing altered from the normal line spacing enter 0pt for
both.

Thanks again but after checking that I found it was
automatically set to that. I feel like I am not
expressing myself properly. I will try to do a little
better. When I type a paragraph it is fine say 6 lines,
no enter, and it is all single spaced. When I push enter
after the paragraph the cursor moves down 2 lines. If I
hit backspace it goes up 2 lines. I am finding this very
confusing and I hope I explained it a little better for
you.
Thanks Again
Kathy

When you show paragraph marks (toolbar or Tools->Options->View...) how many paragraph marks are
between your paragraphs?

On the Layout tab of Page Setup, make sure the vertical alignment is set to
Top, not Justified.
