Dotted lines everywhere

Suddenly these things are happening to my 100 page
document: 1) a dotted line appears between every line in
the double-spaced document, 2) when I view in Print Layout
the text is invisible, 3) it says my document is 2000
pages long. What is happening?

I've justdiscovered that each dotted line is actually
acting like a page break, thus the enormous number of
pages it says the doc has. I don't know why there's a page
break after every line or how to get rid of them.

Yeah, those are page breaks.

Go to Find & Replace, click on More, use the Special menu to put page breaks
in the Find box and Replace them with nothing. That will get rid of them.

They may have occurred because Normal accidentally got set to Page Break
Before, see here for parallel examples:

Although in that case it should be a page break after every paragraph, not
every line. Unless you are hitting enter at the end of every line.
