Double click on Excel or Word opens the program but not the file

Hi everyone,

I am desesparated trying to solve this problem. Everytime I double click an
excel or word file, the program opens but not the file. If I have the
programs open, then, the files can be opened.

I have followed several suggestions that I could find about to unregister
and register again, change the option related to uncheck the allow another
applications opening files, etc but nothing works.

I have also reinstalled the Office and it does not work.

Please, if someone knows the solution for this I would be very grateful.

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Hi Marfa,

If, from Windows Explorer you open the Tools/File Associations choice and, with Word not running, delete the entry for MS Word
Documents and then restart Word can you then open the Word files from Windows Explorer? On occassion (and depending on if your user
profile allows you to write to the registry) you may need to do that step then reregister Word from Start=>Run
Winword.exe /r
