Double forwarding of email possible?

B

Broons Bane

Sorry, can't think of anywhere else to post this.

I have a domain email which is my lifetime email address, say (e-mail address removed) . I
forward it via the domain hosting company to my ISP email address, say
(e-mail address removed) which I then receive via POP.

The problem is that despite great care, I have started receiving spam to my
(e-mail address removed) email address and therefore to my (e-mail address removed) address.

In order to get around this I tired to double forward the email via a spam
filtration, forwarding service.

So (e-mail address removed) got forwarded to (e-mail address removed) (the spam filtration service) which in
turn then forwards it to (e-mail address removed) . The problem is it never gets received at
(e-mail address removed)

Both forwarding services work fine normally, but I have never tried them
combined before. Is there some kind of technical reason why internet email
cannot be double forwarded like this?

Thanks in anticipation :)

Have you asked the owners of your domains for an explanation? It has little
if anything to do with the client software, but it a server-side issue that
your domain holders can answer. We do not even know who your respective
domain registrars/holders are.

Hi Milly.

I realise its not a client thing. The providers are hard to contact. I was
just wondering if there was something inherent in the way server side
internet email forwarding mechanics actually work (m records?) that inhibits
double forwarding. Is there a newsgroup that might know?

There's nothing inherent in mail servers that would prevent double forwarding.

I would suspect the problem is at (e-mail address removed). Perhaps it is treating all messages forwarded
from (e-mail address removed) as spam. Can you verify that the messages from (e-mail address removed) are getting to
(e-mail address removed)?
