Double Underline in a cell

E

Erin

In word 2002, is it possible to double underline a whole
cell & not just the text in the cell? I would basically
like the bottom of the cell outline to appear double, but
only on the header row. I tried borders, but it only
underlines the text as well. Please let me know if this is
possible or not. I have someone here at work telling me it
can be done, but I can't figure it out. Thanks!

The default application for borders in tables is to the cell unless you have
text selected (and application is alway to the cells if you use the Borders
button on the Formmating or Tables and Borders toolbar). Try again with no
text selected.

Hi Erin,

Select the header row and then from the Format menu, select Borders and
Shading and on the Borders tab, select "Cell" from the apply to and select
the double line from the Style list. Apply that to the bottom border. Then
select the Single Line style and reinstate that on the top border and on the
verticals.

Please post any further questions or followup to the newsgroups for the
benefit of others who may be interested. Unsolicited questions forwarded

Hope this helps
