See http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/BorderArt.htm, but note that Word
is
really not designed for this type of application; for that you'd be better
off with Publisher.

Actually, it worked excellently! In another wordprocessing application
there was a built-in page border that looked like a caution barrier (like
those that they used to put in construction sites to not pass. Now they
just use the yellow plastic rolls). I used the Xmas wreath from that page
as a template for size and covered it with yellow and black stripes. I cut
out a white square from the middle so that it looked like a white page with
a caution barrier border and applied that to a Word doct in the header, as
per that page. I added my text, and voilà, the perfect sign for when the
photocopier, etc., is out of order yet a maintenance call has been placed.
Stick that on the device with tape and we've alerted the staff.

Thanks. :eek:D

Note that if you create the border and format it as Behind Text, you don't
need to put a "white square in the middle." You can just use the document
body for your typing area.

I just used a graphic so don't know it would work without taking out the
lines out of the the middle that I drew across the entire graphic so that
they'd be even. Without removing that piece, the entire graphic would
appear striped even where I didn't want it. I might be missing something,
however.

This is exactly what I'm trying to do - create a "caution striped safety tape" border for commnications from a safety professional.

Where did you get the clip art?

Thanks for your help,
John
