download/upload yahoo mail slow

I have just recently purchased a new laptop computer and came with VISTA
Ultimate ... I have installed Office 2007 and set up Outlook to receive
email from the yahoo mail account ... sometimes the connection is brillant
and other times it is so so so so slow ... I can go into the web browser and
view the email ... I have been using Norton Angtivirus but have formated the
Hard drive to test the laptop to see if this was the problem but the problem
still exists ... can anyone help ... do I need to adjust a setting?
