Downloaded Template Help Popups

This is driving me nuts! I downloaded an Excel template and when I click on
certain cells I get a popup help message. If I close the assistant I still
get a popup. I can't turn it off. I searched this whole site and several
other sites and found no applicable solution.

This is Excel 2002 so there is no help task pane, there is no checkbox
called online help settings, I can't find any customer feedback option, etc,
etc.

I've even tried copying the cells to a new workbook but somehow this help
junk goes with it. My god, you would think Microsoft would include
instructions on how to turn this off since they suggest you modify the
template for your own purposes. I already think Microsoft has the most
insensitive, unintuitive help of any application, but <RANT! RANT! RANT!>

No it's not a comment box. It's some super secret thing that no one knows
about apparently. And now I can't find the template on the downloads page. I
wanted to link to it so you could see what I'm talking about. I'll just nuke
it and do one myself. I'm just disappointed that I can't rant to Microsoft
about it without spending $35.

It's simply "Sales Invoice". It's a simple looking template with a blue line
under "You Company Name Here". I searched the templates yesterday and didn't
see it. The properties say it was created by Microsoft but it has no id
number or anything. I have an original copy if you want me to send it to you.

It could be one of the templates that you find under File=>New=>Templates. Use Start=>Search on your computer to look for a file
named Invoice.XLT. If that's the one (written for Microsoft by Village Software) it's a sample Excel template that shipped with
various versions of Office, which could explain why it isn't in the online collection (although there are others similar to it.

For that template there are both yellow screen tip comments on the form in some cells but also if you're seeing a yellow box that
you can drag when you click in certain cells that could be an Excel data validation Input Message.

To turn off the Input message box popup:

1. Use Tools=>Protection and the Unprotect the sheet

2. With the cursor in the cell tha shows the message use Data=>Validation=>Input Message and uncheck the box for displaying the
input message.

3. Use File=>Save as and save as a new template.

YES! FINALLY! That's exactly what it was. May whatever god you recognize
bless you for solving this insidious problem.
