Downloading messages repeatedly

I have a POP account setup and have checked the box to leave the messages on the server. When the messages are downloaded the online status shows that the messages are on the server, but after a few days the server status goes away and the messages are downloaded again, so that there are multiple copies of the same message in my inbox. Has anyone ever seen this and can offer any suggestions.

I have a POP account setup and have checked the box to leave the

Every time I've heard of this happening it's usually the result of the
server being reset.

When you download a mail message via POP it comes with a unique ID set
by the server. Entourage compares the IDs and if they match then it does
nothing. If the server is reset or sometimes restarted then those unique
IDs change and the messages are downloaded again.

You can't control when the server is reset. The best solution I can
offer is to see if you can change your POP account to an IMAP account.
IMAP messages will be synchronized rather than downloaded and managed.

Hope this helps!
