Downloading remote files

My system blew up blew up a couple of night ago and I had to reformat my
drive (boooo). All of the directories under My Webs got clobbered, so I
couldn't even copy them over to my 2nd drive. I now want to download all
the files of course. Do I need to first create the main folder under My
Webs, or will that happen automatically. I don't want to do it wrong and
have to either fix it or remove it all.

Thanks for any help. Diana

Provided that the Server has the FP Extensions installed, just open the online web and publish it to the local computer.

just click on the folder(s) you want to download, they will just download as they
are to your computer - with the folder/directory structure intact, mirroring that
on the server.

Remember to make a backup to CD or ZIP disk or to your second hard drive AND to
an external storage device (CD, ZIP, floppy etc).

Just in case your 2nd HDD kicks the bucket.

You don't click on a folder and download it
You open a Site in FP and publish it

FrontPage extenions are enabled with my ISP, so that's all ok.

How do I click publish when I have no files to open? Publish is grayed out
and persists to be grayed out.
What am I missing? I'm more confused now.
Thanks.
Diana

well....precisely what I meant, of course.

You must have a web / site open in FP before you can publish.

Hi Thomas,
Something has gone a-miss in my messages maybe ... because I think my
original request has gotten lost in the shuffle.

I lost "everything" on my drive (had to reformat) - my operating system too
up residence in Siberia or something ... anyway ... all files on that drive
all gone. So .... I don't have anything to publish.

I'm wanting to download the files for my sites back onto my pc. FP as a
remote access to do this, but I can't seem to get it to work.

Does that help ... or am I simply hooped?

You must have a web / site open in FP before you can publish.

Does the remote server have the FP extensions installed? If yes, then open the site directly in FP
via File Menu | Open Web / Site, enter the URL and login info, then once open, File Menu | Publish
Web / Site and enter the location as c:\mywebsite.
