Hi, Jared,
What I'm trying to tell you is that there is no site or link, at least
not a legal one.
First, are you really sure the wordpad.exe file is gone? It may not be
where you think. If you're using Explorer's search function, click the
"More advanced options" button and check the box for "System folders",
or else it won't be found. In the default installation, it's in the
folder C:\Program Files\Windows NT\Accessories. Also check the Recycle
bin.
If the file is in the Accessories folder, you may have deleted only
its shortcut from the Start menu. If so, you can just right-click-drag
from the file's icon in Explorer onto the Start menu, and click Create
Shortcut Here in the popup when you drop it.
If the program is really not on your drive, then get your CD that you
used to install Windows XP, and view it in Windows Explorer. You
should find a folder (not necessarily directly under the root) named
i386 that's full of files, each of which ends with an underscore. One
of them will be Wordpad.ex_. This is the compressed version of
Wordpad.exe. In the same folder you'll find a program named
Expand.exe. Copy both of these files into the C:\Program Files\Windows
NT\Accessories folder. Start a command window (Start > Programs >
Accessories > Command Prompt). Enter these commands, pressing Enter
after each one:
C:
cd \Program Files\Windows NT\Accessories
expand wordpad.ex_ wordpad.exe
You can delete the expand.exe and wordpad.ex_ files (carefully!),
leaving only wordpad.exe in the folder.
And stop deleting things without reason!
