First, this group is for the Access Database program. I suggest you try an
email group or Internet Explorer group for better help. Next, you don't say
HOW you are downloading them, so I'm guessing you're talking about email
attachments. You can't send binary files through the email system, so email
programs encode the attachments as text. There are two common ways of doing
this UUEncode and MIME. Most email programs currently use MIME and
newsreaders use UUEncode, but they are able to use the other. They normally
automatically decode the same version of coding they are set to encode.
However, if you get a file attachment that was encoded using the other
encoding scheme, you may have to manually decode the file. To do this, save
the message as a text file. Next, use a program that can decode the file to
open it. WinZip will do this, as will many other programs. You may even be
able to manually tell your email program to do this, but you'll need to ask
in a newsgroup for your email program to find out how.
