Downsizing photos

Is there a "Rule of Thumb" about how large a photo needs to be to
display well on a monitor?
Is there a recommended way to downsize photos?
I have a number of photos between 300kbs and 500kbs that I'd like to
post to my website.
When I try to downsize them they get really fuzzy, ...thanks

there's resizing and there's optimizing - both should be done with third
party image editor, not FP.
resize your dimensions to the size you need (keep aspect ratio the same as
original)
then optimize.

check out IrFanview (a freebie) very useful tool to have.

and remember...saving a jpg over and over again will eventually turn it to
mud...eventually.
