Drag and Drop Images in Outlook 2003

Is there a way to configure Outlook 2003 so that I can drag and drop an image (say from the desktop) into a message and have it be embedded instead of making it an attachment? I know I can choose Insert>Picture. Then browse to the location of the picture, but this is counter-productive for me

No, but you can start of a new document in Word where you can drag & drop
your picture in. Then press the little envelope on the Toolbar (by default
5th from the left marked with E-mail) and send your message.
