Drag and Drop Import?

This one is driving me crazy. I work in Access all day every day. I've
recently converted to Vista/Access 2007 but have had this issue on XP/2003. I
have a double-monitor desktop and am frequently working in two databases at
once. I often need to exchange data between the two. I often will drag
tables or queries from one Open DB to the other. This is much faster than
going through the import/export wizard. What is driving me crazy is that
this works only very sporadically and I can not find any kind of consistent
pattern surrounding when it works and when it doesn't. I have made certain
that both databases are open in completely 'virgin' mode. No tables or
queries open. No processes running. Everything is local to my machine - no
network access. Absolutely no way that ANYthing is busy or locked in either
DB. Just this morning I opened two databases. Before even touching anything
else. I copied one very large file by dragging and dropping it. I
immediately went to copy another file - this time a small code table - and I
was not allowed. The wizard ultimately imported it just fine so there was
clearly no reason why the table couldn't be imported. Can anyone shed some
light on this inconsistency? As most of you will understand - it is the
inability to find a pattern and explain the behavior that is driving this old
programmer crazy.

Does Copy (from db1) /Paste (to db2) work consistently, or does it display
the same behavior?
