Dragging image into ppt results in file name

I've always draged and droped images and movies into powerpoint (2000). The
draged image is nicley placed in the object holder.

Latley my dragging results in the "file name" (ie cat.gif) being placed in
the object holder. What has changed on my computer? The dragging method still
works on other computers....

Rose,
This is the behaviour in PPT2002/2003, don't know about 2000 though.
If you drag the picture onto a blank slide it works, when you drag to a
placeholder you get a hyperlink.
Maybe someone using PPT2000 can test this and report here?

Drag-and-drop into a placeholder worked last in PPT 2000. This behavior was
eliminated in PPT 2002 and remains missing in PPT 2003.

This change was directly relaed to support calls -- people couldn't
understand why their images/text/whatever would become part of a placeholder
when they dragged it around on the slide. I personally miss this behavior,
as it's a wonderful way to quickly reformat slides that don't follow slide
masters.
