Drawing an Auxiliary Line

Is it possible to draw an Auxiliary Line, for an organisation chart, using
powerpoint 2002? Can't find this option anywhere. You used to be able to
goto View - Drawing tools in 97, but cannot find this in the 2002 version.

thanks

It's the same in 2003. Just click on the line tool on your Drawing toolbar
(View/Toolbar/Drawing).

When you goto (View/Toolbar/Drawing) to bring up the drawing toolbar, you can
select a basic line, but there is no icon for an Auxiliary Line.

Can you advise please?

Look for the Connectors. I assume that's what you mean by "auxiliary line."

In 97, when you inserted an organization chart, it opened up in its own
window and had a toolbar at the top with subordinate, co-worker, manager,
assistant, and 4 icons for lines. Horizontal/vertical, diagonal, auxiliary,
rectangle.

It is the auxiliary line i was looking for so that i caould select one
object, then another and it would do the corners, like half a rectangle.

Guess they did away this this. Thanks for replying though.

Okay, I've opened PPT 2000, created an Org Chart, and I see what you mean by
Auxiliary line. Use the Connectors on the AutoShapes menu to draw from the
edge of one box to another. To make the connector dotted, just use the dash
style tool on the Drawing Toolbar after you add the connector. Use the line
style tool to change the thickness of the connector if you want.

Blimey- talk about a long way for a shortcut.

That was exactly what we needed echo. Thanks for doing all that digging for
us.

Really appreciate it.

Yeah, I hear you. It actually gives you more formatting options in the long
run than the old way did, though. Just takes a little getting used to.

You're very welcome. Sorry you had to go to great lengths to explain
"auxiliary line" to me! I admit I never did use the old Org Chart tool too
much, so I'm not as familiar with it as I should be.
