Drawing Canvass and Connectors Word 2002

Hi therre

I have a large A3 diagram with text boxes etc that I need to copy into a drawing canvass in order that I can use connectors. I have managed to copy the drawing into the canvass but the connectors are not working. Is there something I am doing wrong please?
