drawing squares with intersecting lines

I would like to draw 3 squares and have them intersect.
When I attempt this, the squares appear to be on top of
each other and the intersecting lines disappear. I need
to see all 4 lines of each square. How can I do this?

Select each square and set the Fill to "no fill".
