drawing tools editing points in a polygon drawn with pen tool

Processor: Intel

Is there a way to edit the shape of a polygon drawn with the line tool pallet that enables multipoint shapes to be drawn? I can, under certain conditions, see red boxes where the points are but cannot determine how to drag the boxes to reshape the polygon.

I found references (in old web blogs) to an "edit points" command in the drawing tools but this may be absent in Mac version???

Edit Points is only available if you create the shape using one of the 3
tools at the bottom of the palette: Curve, Freeform, Scribble. The buttons
display the pen nib to indicate that the create editable paths. Once the
path is created you can Control/Right-Click it & select the Edit Points
command. The red dots you're seeing are merely connection points.
