Dreamweaver Conversion NIGHTMARE!

J

Jen

My company's site is skincancer.org. Somehow I inherited the job of
"webmaster" even though I am not a webmaster. They know this and think that
since I can make pages and do minor stuff that I'm joking about not being a
webmaster.

We're switching hosts and are having a nightmare.

Apparently since the database was originally done in Dreamweaver (by god
only knows who) FP is not making it easy. If I FTP in it locks all of the
files. Also, if I import the site and make changes to repost, it defaults
the paths of the images so that they are not displayed in the live
environment. I've corrected the properties of the images and have even
changed the code and have had no lock. Should I mention the issues with
mysql...

Thanks!!!!

***If it's too complicated, are there any FP professionals willing to help a
nonprofit for a very reasonable rate?

Do you not have Dreamweaver? I fear that you are over your head with this.

Do you have experience with mySQL?

I am pretty good with Dreamweaver, so I might be able to help some.

As far as I know, Contribute only works with FTP which can be a problem.

So - you have the site copied from its current location, and you have it
imported into FP?

Also, that site is using PHP. I'm afraid that FP is not going to be able to
manage that at all.

Jen,

I am not a DreamWeaver user, but you can try to direct your questions to
(e-mail address removed)

She is very well versed in Dreamweaver and manages several hundred Real
Estate sites. From the point of view of a non-profit, tell her that you need
a little guidance.

Her site is www.redg.us

Good luck

Why go to an individual when there is a whole community that can help?

There are Dreamweaver forums just like this one.

But I think the problems are not DW problems - they are migrating a DW site
into FP. Those problems really belong here.

It's always nice to have another potential helper identified, though.

I only made the suggestion because some commercial specialists do provide
free help to non-profits, and, as you know, an additional contact is not a
bad thing. I hope Jen finds the help she needs.

Thanks for all of your help guys.

Murray is right. The problem is migrating a DW site to FP. I have the site
copied into FP. Whether I did it the best way or not, I'm not sure. I did
it via FTP.
