Drop Caps

Jeff Stanton

I'm unable to get the drop caps function to work. I have both Publisher 2003
and 2007 (on different machines), and I have followed the directions
exactly, nothing happens. Can someone offer a suggestion?

I assume you've created a text box, entered your text, then Format - Drop
Cap? (Sorry - I have to ask.)

Sorry. I was so engrossed in telling you what version of Pub I have, I seem
to have overlooked the obvious info. Yes, I have done all of that.

Place your cursor in front of the first letter of your paragraph. Open the Drop
Cap dialogue and select your preferences.

I have tried that, as well as highlighting the first letter or, as the help
instructions note, placing the cursor anywhere in the paragraph. All to no
avail. What bothers me is the fact that I KNOW that I have done this
successfully in the past.

If the text is a list Drop Caps will not work.

If you think this is a program problem, do a detect and repair.
I rather doubt it is Publisher at fault since it is happening on two versions.

Insert a page, insert a new text box on the page, type some letters, do the Drop
Cap. Does it work now?

I think I found the problem. You can either indent a paragaph, or place a
Drop Cap, but not BOTH.
