Drop Down Box

Let's say I have a drop down box with 8 commonly used
options. That I can do. How do I make it so that the
drop down box will also accept an entry that is not one of
the eight pre-designated answers?? If i try to type a
different entry in, Excel does it's whole ERROR message.

You can enter any item in a cell with a data validation list, if you
remove the check mark from 'Show error alert after invalid data is
entered', on the Error Alert tab in the Data Validation dialog box.
