drop-down form fields

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Is there a limit to the number of characters you can have in each item of a drop-down form field? I can't find any info on this.

I ran up against what might be a limit when I tried to add more characters to an existing item in a drop-down field, but it seems to be limited to 50 characters.

How can I get beyond 50 characters?

I'm sure there is a limit, but I cannot find documentation to say what it
is. Microsoft likes to play "I've got a secret" with things such as
performance limits, so they don't get held to them later :)

I'm in the same boat as John, but your brief message suggests that you may
be attempting to use that type of field in an unusual way. I don't know if
it will serve as an appropriate alternative but you might have a look at:

http://word.mvps.org/faqs/tblsfldsfms/AutoTextList.htm

Each item in the 'popup' triggers a different AutoText item.
