drop down lists

I do a daily log, in which I use drop down lists to speed
things up. I would like to add a box or function, which
when I type in the first character or two, will take me to
the appropriate section in the list. If this is possible,
I also need to know where and how to do this. I am
relatively new to this, and any help would be appreciated.
I am using Excel 2000. Thank You.

Sorry, I can't see anyway using data validation or forms
controls on the worksheet.

it looks to me as though you need to create a user form
for your data input.
