drop-down menu in an excel spreadsheet

I created a drop-down menu in an excel spreadsheet, but when I attach the
spreadsheet to an e-mail and send to a recipient, the drop-down menus
dissappear in the spreadsheet

Are you both using the same version of Excel?
Is the drop down menu referencing a worksheet that is not being sent?

What was the source for your validation list? If your list was from another
spread sheet that could be why your list disappears when you e-mail it to
someone else. Where is the data for your list stored?

if I understand you, you are talking about a custom menu item.
Custom menus only apply to the pc that is customized. They do not apply to
files.
