Drop down menu using images

Is there a way in any MS office product (preferably in Word, Excel, or
Publisher) to create a drop down menu using images? Even if the menu used
words, but an image was displayed once selected would be fine.

I'm not following what you are trying to do exactly. A menu is
specific to an application and you can use an icon and text for the
menu commands.

Are you wanting to use this within a file rather than use the actual
menu bar? If that's the case Word 2007 and a Picture Content Control.
However all users of the document would also need to use Word 2007.

For previous versions you could use an AutoTextList field. The list
will not display the image choices but after you make a selection an
image can be inserted. For more on how to create an AutoTextList field
take a look at this article:

Thank Beth. I will try what you have recommended.

What I would like to do is create a dropdown menu within an actual document.
For example, I have 4 diagrams (dog, horse, cat, bird). Within the
document, I would like to have a dropdown menu that displays the 4 diagrams
as the choices. Once selected, the image is dplayed in the document.

Is that any clearer?
