Drop-Down question

A Programmer we had in has set up our system so that all of our templates are
in the File new Dropdown menu.

How do I add to this? Or set it up for staff that seem to have missed out?
Any ideas?

Thanks

Place the new template in either the local computer's template directory or
in the network's directory. (Make sure they are saved as a .dot or .dotx
depending on Word version used.)

To find the location for each in Word before 2007, click Tools, Options,
File Locations and look at the two template locations (User templates,
Workgroup templates.) Word 2007 click the Office orb, Word options,
Advanced, scroll all way to bottom to File Locations.

Next time, please put the version of Office and exactly what program/s you
are concerned about. That always helps us answer questions. Let us know if
this answers your questions.

Oops!! Sorry I forgot. We are using Office 2003, the program concerned is
Word 2003.

All of the templates are in the same location on the network, it's just that
for some reason most of us have them in the drop down menu but some don't and
not all of the templates are in the drop down.

If I can avoid the 2 hour callout fee for a 2 second job it would be
wonderful!

Now, just which drop down are you talking about. The way to normally use
templates with that version of office is to place all of the templates in
the network location and when needed all of the desktops need to have their
Word program pointing to that location. To find the location use the
example in my first post for Word versions before 2007. I would suspect
that not all of the computer's have a workgroup template location set.

To use Templates, click File, New and in the window that opens on the right
side click on On my computer... This should open another window in the
center of the screen with all the available templates. If they are not
showing up then the location setting is wrong.

Hope this helps, let us know one way or the other.

Hi LV,

The dropdown Box I'm talking about is next to the "New" button on the toolbar.

We have all our other templates in there but we can't figure out how to get
new ones in there.
