dual display problem using ppt2003

Slides in Normal view on my laptop do not stay in sync with slides in
Slideshow view on the projector. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you are using an extended desktop setup (computer monitor and
projector can display separately). If you need the two to display the same
content switch the video output (on the computer) from extended desktop to
mirrored output (what is seen on the computer is what is projected).

Hi Phil,

I know, this used to drive me nuts also. There are 3 solutions I know about
when using dual monitor set-ups to keep the podium monitor on the same slide
as the projected monitor.

1) When opening a presentation do not click on anything except the F5 key.
Sometimes, the show will keep sync, sometimes not. All bets are off if you
select anything within the edit pane when using this method.

2) Use presenter's view. This is a tool for PowerPoint that forces the two
views to stay in sync and also gives you a bit of a clue of what's coming
up. In SlideShow menu click on SetUp SlideShow => Check next to Use
Presenter's view

3) I'm working on a little toy that grew out of a similar need. You can
download and play with it if you would like. I always value feedback.

I usually use F5 to start a presentation, and yes, it sometimes works
correctly. I actually have had it work correctly once after clicking in the
editing window. As I'm thinking about this, I do have an embedded timed ppt
presentation that runs from an action link on the first slide. I'll try
omitting that to see if it solves the problem.

That's what I've been using, but I don't really like it. I like being able
to go to a specific slide by entering the slide number and hitting Enter. I
also like being able to edit the presentation on the fly!

I'll give it a try. Thanks!!
