Duplicate Activities in PWA

Tim

Several users have experienced a problem with multiple instances of the same
activity line displayed in PWA (one user had 5 instances of the same activity
displayed). The fix that was recommended was to hide all but one (or all) of
the activities in PWA, then republish the assignments. Seems to have worked
for all but one user, who complained about the problem again today.

Any suggestions on what is happening, and on how to fix this permanently.

Thanks

Tim: I also had the same problem. I know of two senarios where this can
happen... but both have one item in common. Having "Publish on Save" enabled
in Project Professional 2002 can cause this.

I corrected it by selecting "Admi" -->"Manage enterprise features" -->
"Clean up Microsoft Project Server database". In the middle of this page
select "Projects and To-do Lists:". You should now see a list of all
Projects, and I suspect that you will see the duplicate projects.
NOTE: Before doing this I would disable the "Publish on Save" feature for
ALL PROJECTS. I would also ask resources to write down their actual hours,
since they might have reported hours aganst one of the phantom projects.

Tim: I forgot to mention that Microsoft has a knowledgebase article
concerning this problem. See Microsoft Knowledgebase Article KB812639

Good luck.
