Duplicate meeting notices

At my work we use Outlook 2000 with an exchange server. We have a created a
shared calendar (Only a calendar no mailbox) and the user created an
appointment that duplicated itself several times (same time same day same
information). This has happened on several different appointments. When we
tried to delete it but it won’t delete. Any suggestions
