Duplicate Projects (again)

J

John

I know the topic has been covered, but now I have a different aspect of
this:

I applied the Microsoft hotfix for duplicate projects (kb 812639). I also
performed the action at the end of that article (unchecking the options),
but I'm still running into a problem. I open up a project from the server,
and make a change, then try to resave or publish (it doesn't matter which
one), and I still get a duplicate project on the server.

Can anyone tell me if there is anything else I can do, or is there another
way to resolve this?

Thanks
John

Hey John,

If you got the specific hot fix that addresses the problem, then you might
need to go back to Microsoft and request the latest rollup for the client and
server side fixes. As later after the release of the first fix for duplicate
projects they managed to find another way for duplicate projects to get
created.

Another thing that needs to be addressed before anything, is that this fix is
a client side fix, and the hot fix that was given to you MUST be installed on
all client machines running Project Professional. If there is just one machine
in your company not updated with that hot fix, then it can still create
duplicate projects. Appling the fix on just one machine that consistantly
had the problem will not fix it, because another machine on the network can
create these duplicate projects as well.

If all machines are up to date with that duplicate project hot fix, then you
might need to get the latest fix for the server and client from Microsoft.
During that time you'll need to clean the database as the knowledge base
articles states.

Good luck,
