Duplicate tasks in PWA after publishing from Master project and subproject

Hello,

When tasks are published from a subproject and a master project (where
the
subproject appears is), the task appears twice in the PWA.
In regard to this, I have two questions:

1. How can we delete the duplicate tasks in the PWA?
2. How can we prevent this from happening again?

I think the first question is quite obvious, but the second one may
need a
bit more clarification: Is this behaviour due to a bug or an error, or
due to
wrong usage of the supplied functionality? Should we find a solution,
or a
new way of working with it?

I hope that what I write is understandable. If not, please let me know.

Try only publishing the tasks from the Master Project. If you publish the
tasks from the sub-project and the Master Project of which the sub-project is
a part, you get the same task twice, once from the sub-project and once from
the Master / Sub-Project.

Actually Microsoft's recommendation is to never publish master projects as
there are more issues than this associated with doing that. Better not to
even have a master project as PWA lets you create temporary master files on
demand.

Thank you for your replies.
I have just received an answer from Microsoft itself, and they confirm
that it is indeed not recommended to use a master project.
My problem is that I don't use MS Project, since it's out of the scope
of my responsibilities. Unfortunately, I've been appointed to find a
solution :(. It's frustrating at times.
When (if) I find a solution, I'll see if I can post it here.

You can safely SAVE a master project in the Project Server database, but you
should never PUBLISH a master project. The solution to this problem is to
ask the Project Server administrator to disable the permission to publish
master projects and then to delete the master project from the Project
Server database. You will then need to recreate and save the master
project, but now the system will prevent you from actually publishing the
assignments. You can still create cross project links with no problems in
the master project. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, Dale.
In the current situation, there are a hundred or so projects, whereof
some are master projects that contain the rest of the project files. I
feel like a butcher that has to perform open heart surgery. Luckily, I
now have a test environment to experiment on.
