Duplicate Values in a Query

I am running a parameter query using 3 tables. The query
returns duplicate values in each record. This becomes a
problem on the report when I want to sum the values for
certain fields. Is there a way to avoid this
duplication? I have tried changing the Unique Values and
Records in the query properties and that did not work. Is
there something I can add to the Sum formula on the report
so it will not pick up the duplicate values?
