Duration Based tasks planning

Hi,
How can we do the scheduling for a duration based tasks. Like a particular
chemical synthesis takes 12 hours irrespective of the no. of people assigned
to that task.

Turn off effort driven on the task and set it to Fixed Duration.

You can set that by default in Tools > Options.

I would use elapsed times - enter 12eh for elapsed hours - which was designed for just this purpose.
