% (Duration) Complete

MP is a new thing for me, so forgive my jargon if it's a little off.
I'm wondering why my % (Duration) Complete does not accurately reflect
what's going on in the ghantt chart. For example: A task which began
in Dec 07 and should finish in July 08 is only showing 8% complete
today, June 24. (The hours are an even spread throughout the task.)
Any ideas?

Hi,
Whether or not it should finish in July is not relevant for %complete
calculation. You have to confirm Project that there has been any work on it.
For instance through Tools, Tracking, Update Project, Ente work as complete
through...
Or through Tools, Tracking, Update tasks, entering Actual Duration (and
maybe also remaining duration)
