This happens when the total work for a task does not equal an integer
multiple of the number of hours per day. Example: Joe is assigned to a task
and bids 12 hours to do the job. Work=12hours, Duration=1.5 days.
This behavior happens when people adjust durations, total work, etc. on
tasks. It is common here because we have multiple resources assigned to
tasks. For example, 3 resources assigned to a task gets this behavior
frequently because you assign the task 40 hours work, project divides that
equally among 3 people giving you a 1.67 day duration.
Your solution is to manually inspect the tasks and adjust work hours to make
the durations what you wish. This is probably best accomplished by using the
Windows/Split... to show a bottom pane with resource assignments. You could
also make the tasks fixed duration and then let the work calculate based on
your resource assignments. Your choice.
