Duration inaccurate

when putting in duration times for a task w/ sub tasks....the durations will not add correctly unless the task is marked as complete. Has anyone had this problem or know how to fix it?

Hi RVW,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

The Duration of a Summary task is a measure of the working time between the
beginning of the first task to the end of the last tasks and is not a
summation of the Durations of the individual tasks (unless, coincidentally,
they are all in a simple chain). See Summary tasks in Help.

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on:)

I det the tasks up in a chain in order to achieve a desired duration for my task (I.E. a task of 4 2 hour sub tasks in a chain should total 1 full day) but this was not the case unless the tasks were marked as complete

OK - what did it add up to? I suggest you might have a mismatch in
calendars. Please see FAQ Item: 5. Default Working Hours

Please note the new Project newsgroup arrangements repeated in FAQ 24 -
Project Newsgroups, as this one is closing down.
