Duration including Week end

Nathalie

I would like to show the duration of tasks includig week ends even if no
resource is going to work during those days. For example, I have a
requirement for a task that has to last 10 days, but 10 calendar days. As my
calendar excludes the week ends, project considers 10 workind days excluding
week ends and the calendar duration is longer than 10 days.
How can I solve that issue? Can I insert a formula? or is there another way?

thanks
Nathalie

Hi Nathalie,

You could use a duration of 10ed for 10 elapsed days. Using elapsed
duration tasks schedules the task for ten 24 hour periods of time.
Use caution however, if assigning resources as those resources will
be scheduled 24 hours per day.

The other option is to use a spare duration field to calculate the
difference in calendar days between the start date and end date. My
process is to create a new calendar (Tools > Change Working Time,
New) which has both Saturday and Sunday as working days. I usually
name the calendar 7Day. The add a spare duration field (Duration1
for example) and use the following formula:

ProjDateDiff([Start],[Finish],"7Day")

assuming you've named your calendar 7Day.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
