Duration

How do you get the duration to calculate automatically?

I'm new to MS Project Professional 2002. I've done the following:

1 I've entered my tasks and subtasks in the PERT entry sheet.

2 For each subtask (creatd by indent button) entered optimistic,
Expected, & Pessimistic duration on the PERT entry sheet.

3 After viewing the Gantt chart (View | Gantt chart) created Predessors
by selecting predessor subtask followed by dependent subtask and
clicking on the link button.

Your help would be appreciated. Thanks!

To get the Duration to calculate after you have entered the Optimistic,
Pessimistic, and Expended durations, you must first click the Set PERT
Weights button on the PERT Analysis toolbar. Enter the relative weighting
of the three sets of values (the weighting is for all tasks in which you
have entered the three values) and make sure that the total number of values
adds up to 6. After you have done so, you will need to click the Calculate
PERT button to get the Durations to calculate, based on the the three values
you entered and the weighting of the values. Hope this helps.
