Dynamic custom fields, referencing other custom fields

Is there any way to filter the selections in a custom field based on a user's
selection in a prior custom field?

Similar to the situation where you'd show a drop down list of states and
cities. After the user selects the state, the cities drop down list only
shows cities within that state.
