Dynamic Web Templates

I'm applying a dwt to a page that contains several tables. After applying
the dwt, the page looks fine in design mode. However, as soon as I save the
page and preview it, the tables and formatting get all jumbled up. Is this
something that frequently happens or something particular to what I'm trying
to do? Is there a way to correct this?
