e-mail background sent OK but downloaded as attachment

I set up an e-mail with a background which gets sent OK. It appears as i want
it to in my Sent Items folder, but when it's downloaded, even on the same PC,
all formatting is lost with the background downloading as an attachment.

Anyone know why this happens / how to circumvent the problem ?
