I'm on vacation and would like to check my outlook e-mail
along the way from friends' computers. Is there a way?

That depends on what kind of mail server your account uses and what kind of access it permits.

Three options, two require you to leave Outlook closed and one that does
not.

1. Leave Outlook closed and check your mail server directly (many, though
not all providers have a web based interface).

2. Leave Outlook closed and add a new account to the email client at all of
your friends' houses.

3. Leave Outlook open and use something along the lines of go2mypc.com

If you ave a POP3 account and your e-ail provider doesn't have a
webbasedclient you can go to http://www.mail2web.com/
