e-mail rule?

Hello all,

using Outlook '03...

I have an e-mail rule that creates a copy of any sent message and
moves it to a particular folder--archive folder.

This rule, however, deactivates on its own; i.e., it stops working and
the box is unchecked when I look at my rules (I have many rules and
this is the only one that stops working). I have not adjusted any of
my folders!

It seems to stop on a Friday (or maybe that's just a coincidence).

Any thoughts?

Hello again,

another issue with this rule is that it's not sending (archiving)
anything that I forward. I've looked, and cannot find any rule that
differentiates a sent message from a forward message.

Are you saving sent messages? It's a default setting, but can be changed to
not save forwarded messages.

Are you using a pop3 or imap acct? Is the archive folder on the local
machine?

I am saving sent messages. All my sent messages (including forwarded
mail) are saved in the Sent Items folder.
I have set up a rule, however, to make a copy of anthing sent and send
it to an archive folder.
I then purge the Sent Items folder (because of my space quota).
I could do it manually, but figured a rule would work just fine.

I have two main issues:
First, my rule deactivates; i.e., it stops working (I can see the
rule, but the box next to the rule becomes unchecked)
Second, when the rule is working, it does not make a copy (and put
into the archive file) any forwarded e-mail. Not to be
confusing...there seems to be two types of forwarded e-mail. E.g., if
you look in the Sent Items folder, you'll see (at least on my system)
two different icons for forwarded mail. One is just the plain
envelope, the second has an envelope with a right-pointing arrow.
It's these messages with the pointing arrow that are not copied and
archived.

Are you using a pop3 or imap acct? NO
Is the archive folder on the local

The archive folder is a pst file on a networked server.

typically, the ones with the arrow are the original from your inbox. they
should not be in your sent folder at all.

You're right; I am using an exchange account/server.

I don't understand why the messages that originate in my inbox (and
are sent) shouldn't end up in my Sent Items folder.
