I fooled around with something I was unfamiliar with here
and have no idea how to get it straightend out. I
created some rules in an attempt to get rid of unwanted e-
mails, and somehow now when I read an incoming message
and then close the window, the message is deleted to who
knows where. I can't find it. I have tried and tried,
but it seems the more I try to fix, the deeper I get into
something I don't understand. HELP!

Chances are, the message is not deleted, just not shown because of your
current View selection. Check your View to see that it is not set to
"Unread Messages".
