I get an e-mail with an attachment. I open the e-mail and view the
attachment. When closing the e-mail, I continually get asked if I want to
save changes.
Why ?
And how do I stop this from happening all the time ?
Thanks for any help.

The why is, in my opinion, that your sender is, when creating the
attachment, using a compatible, but different, version of the application
you're using to view it. Your version sees that it was created with a
different version and updates it for itself, thus changing the file. When
you close (which implies save) the file, your app sees that there have been
changes and asks if you'd like to save those changes.

Seems plausible to me.

That what's I thought might too at first. But no matter how many times I open
it and say yes to saving the changes, it keeps asking me over and over again
every time I reopen it.
Thanks Brian for the response, it's very much appreciated.

I thought maybe that could be the problem. But everytime I open it, I choose
save changes and when I reopen it and close it, it ask the same thing again.
You would think it would understand the Save Changes when you tell it to.
Thanks for responding Brian, it's appreacited.

In attachmet, is there any fieldcode (time, date) witch update when you open
file, and then it ask if you want to save?

That's because you're opening the original message again, which creates a
new temporary copy of the original attachment, which is detected by the app
as having changes. Saving it just saves a temporary copy that gets deleted
when you close the message. You can verify that the attachment is properly
converted by saving it to Windows folder and then reopening that. I suspect
you won't be prompted again when you close the saved copy.
