E-mails disappeared while trying to import from Outlook Express

Confused

I reached the capactity for Outlook Express (about 2 gigs
worth of files in my inbox). When I tried to switch to
Outlook, I went to import my inbox from Express. The
import never completed and it crashed my computer.
However, when I went back to Express, all those files in
my inbox were gone. Express was still operating as if
they were there (as if I was still at capacity), but I
can't see them or find them.

Can anyone help me figure out where they went or how to
recover them?

I don't recall ever reading that Outlook Express has a limit like that.
However, depending on your version of Outlook, 2 Gb may be your limit there.
OL 2003 can handle more in a single folder file, but prior versions can't.
Of course, you can always have more than one folder file.

Thank you, however that doesn't quite answer my question:
Is there a way to recover those files that diappeared?

They should still be in Outlook Express. Importing (or, more properly,
exporting to Outlook from OE) mesages into Outlook does not remove them from
the source message store.
