E-mails dumped from inbox

Why are emails being dumped/dropped from my inbox? They don't show up
anywhere else - not even in my junk-mail or delete folders. They just
disappear.

Two things to check: One, that your View is set to Messages (not Unread
Messages) and if that is not the cause, check your Autoarchive settings...
